Audi has unveiled its most powerful gas-powered vehicle to date: the RS Q8 Performance. Building on the refreshed designs of the Q8 and SQ8 from last fall, the updated RS Q8 lineup now features a Performance version that echoes the high-performance ethos of other RS-badged cars such as the RS4, RS5, RS6, and RS7 Performance. This new addition is not just a display of power; it's a showcase of Audi's engineering prowess and dedication to high-performance vehicles.

A Powerhouse Under the Hood

A Powerhouse Under the Hood

The RS Q8 Performance takes the crown as Audi's most potent gas model from Ingolstadt. Its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine delivers a staggering 631 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. This power boost outshines even the discontinued R8's naturally aspirated V-10 engine. The enhanced engine allows the RS Q8 Performance to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 190 mph. The added power has not only improved the RS Q8's acceleration but also its performance on the track. The RS Q8 Performance recently set a new record for the fastest production SUV around the Nurburgring. Racing and development driver Frank Stippler completed a lap of the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 36.69 seconds, beating the previous record held by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT by more than two seconds. This achievement underscores Audi's commitment to pushing the boundaries of SUV performance. For those who don't need the ultimate performance of the RS Q8 Performance, Audi still offers the regular RS Q8. This version is equipped with the same V-8 engine, albeit tuned to a lower 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Despite the reduced power, the regular RS Q8 remains a formidable vehicle, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, though it can be increased to 174 mph or even 190 mph with the optional limiter adjustment.

Aggressive Styling and Advanced Features

Both versions of the RS Q8 benefit from the design updates introduced last year on the Q8 and SQ8. The front grille features a distinctive honeycomb pattern that extends to the enlarged air intakes, giving the RS models a more aggressive appearance. The rear of the vehicle sports oval exhaust tips, a signature of Audi's RS lineup. The Performance model boasts a newly developed lighter exhaust system that reduces back pressure and produces a deeper, more resonant sound. An optional RS sport exhaust system is available for those who crave an even more pronounced auditory experience.

Luxurious and Sporty Interior

Inside, the RS Q8 models feature perforated sport seats with honeycomb stitching, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and microfiber accents made from recycled bottles. The cabin combines luxury with sporty elements, ensuring both comfort and style. Adaptive air suspension is standard, allowing the ride height to be adjusted by up to 3.5 inches. The vehicle also features electromechanical active roll stabilization and rear-wheel steering for improved handling and stability.

Audi offers a range of customization options for the RS Q8 Performance. The vehicle can be equipped with matrix LED headlights, laser high-beam, and OLED taillights with five customizable light signatures. For those who want to make a bold statement, Audi provides 23-inch matte gold wheels with 295/35 tires. Ceramic brakes with 440-mm front and 370-mm rear discs are available as an upgrade. Additionally, new paint options include Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue, and Chili Red.

The Audi RS Q8 Performance is a testament to Audi's relentless pursuit of excellence in the high-performance vehicle segment. With its record-breaking power and speed, aggressive styling, and luxurious interior, the RS Q8 Performance stands out as a remarkable achievement in automotive engineering. Whether on the track or the road, this SUV delivers an unparalleled driving experience, cementing its place as Audi's most powerful gas car ever.
