INEOS AUTOMOTIVE BEGINS PRODUCTION OF GRENADIER 4X4s FOR NORTH AMERICA

27 Sep 2023
  • Where is Ineos Automotive expanding its market to?
  • What are the specifications of the Grenadier?

The first series production Grenadier 4X4s for North America have started rolling off INEOS Automotive’s production line in Hambach, France. With the first US-bound Grenadier - a Belstaff Fieldmaster edition in Scottish White - emerging from the end-of-line Quality Inspection Bay.

More than 7,000 orders have already been placed for the Grenadier in the USA, making it INEOS Automotive’s largest market, with first customer deliveries due to start in November for USA and January 2024 for Canadian buyers.

INEOS Automotive acquired the manufacturing facility at Hambach from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021 and has subsequently invested over €50m with the Grenadier line now including a new semi-automated paintshop, a new fully-automated bodyshop, and a new quality centre.

“The start of production for North American vehicles is a significant moment for INEOS Automotive, and for Hambach plant in particular,” says Lynn Calder, CEO INEOS Automotive. “We have been ramping up the production rate over the last six months to ensure we can deliver to customers as quickly as possible, while maintaining the world-class quality standards we set for ourselves. With the addition of North America, Hambach is now producing for export to five continents. The Grenadier is truly a car for the world.”

Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, INEOS Automotive’s North American team will soon announce its first wave of appointed dealers. The North American retail and service network will join a global footprint for INEOS Automotive across more than 40 markets, with customer deliveries having already started in 20.

Greg Clark, Executive Vice President Americas for INEOS Automotive, said, “We have spent a long time selecting an exceptional team of experienced dealers and are excited that we will soon be able to announce them and begin guiding the Grenadier station wagons home for our customers.”

About Grenadier

About Grenadier

The backbone of the Grenadier is a full box-section ladder frame chassis, with heavy-duty solid beam axles, a two-speed transfer case and up to three locking differentials. It is powered by a choice of BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines (petrol only for North America), which have been extensively revised and recalibrated for this application. Practical features include a 70:30 split rear door, integrated roof bars, pre-wiring for auxiliary lamps and accessories, and a front bumper, fenders and hood to sit on. An ‘open-source’ approach to accessories means owners can tailor the vehicle to their specific requirements.

The interior combines versatility and practicality with the latest technology and exceptional comfort. Its intuitive and functional layout features physical switches that are widely spaced for easy use on the move. A central infotainment screen gives intuitive access to a range of information displays and settings menus. An overhead console provides controls and switches for off-road and auxiliary functions. Hose-out rubber flooring, Recaro seats - available in hard-wearing cloth or leather - and numerous stowage options mean the Grenadier is ready for anything work and life can throw at it.

2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: The Fastest, Most Powerful Corvette Ever

Chevrolet has unleashed the unthinkable in the Corvette ZR1. The King of the Hill returns with the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer, mind-bending specs, and iconic design to challenge the world’s best supercars in both coupe and convertible variants.

• Corvette ZR1 features a 5.5L, twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine dubbed the LT7.

• The LT7 engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft (1123 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer.

• Corvette ZR1 boasts a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 mph (346 Kph) on the racetrack and will dispatch the quarter mile with a GM-estimated sub-10-second time1.

• Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creates over 1,200 pounds (544 Kg) of downforce at top speed.

• ZR1 revives one of the most iconic styles in Corvette history: the split rear window.

“The team that revolutionized Corvette with a mid-engine architecture took on another challenge: take ZR1 to the next level,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “Corvette ZR1 is about pushing the envelope with raw power and cutting-edge innovation. From Stingray, to Z06, E-Ray, and now ZR1, the Corvette family continues to elevate with each new iteration — and challenge the best in the world.”

The Street-Legal Red Bull RB17 Hypercar

The automotive world is abuzz with the announcement that Lanzante, the renowned vehicle specialist known for transforming track-focused machines into road-going marvels, is set to convert the Red Bull RB17 hypercar into a street-legal version. This ambitious project aims to bring Adrian Newey’s V-10 beast from the racetrack to the public roads, and while the challenge is daunting, Lanzante's track record suggests they are up for it. The Red Bull RB17, designed by the legendary Adrian Newey, is a testament to cutting-edge engineering and performance. The track-only version of the hypercar weighs a mere 1,984 pounds, making it lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata ND. Yet, despite its featherweight design, it boasts a staggering 1,200 horsepower. This immense power allows it to lap Silverstone a second quicker than a Formula 1 car, according to recent simulations.
