Manthey Kit for Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

  • What are the changes in the aerodynamic and performance in the Manthey kit 718 Cayman GT4 RS?
  • What is new suspension system for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS?
  • What was the timing for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS on the Nürburgring Nordschleife?

Porsche is offering a Manthey Kit for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS that is specially optimised for use on the racing track. The 368 kW (500 PS) GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit completed a lap at the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in 7:03.121 minutes. This makes it exactly 6.179 seconds faster than the 718 Cayman GT4 RS without the upgrade kit.

The modifications focus on aerodynamics and chassis components. Pads designed for the track are available as an option for the powerful braking system. The new kit was developed in Meuspath especially for track days and in close collaboration between engineers at Porsche Motorsport and the Nordschleife specialists at Manthey. The road-legal components can be fitted aftermarket and will be sold by Porsche Centers worldwide.

Downforce almost doubled with Performance setting

The Manthey Kit for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is recognisable by the comprehensive changes to the additional functional aero parts. At the front of the car, flaps and new air curtains with a wheel arch Gurney flap and a new carbon underbody with diffusers improve the downforce on the front end. The 85-millimetre wider rear wing features a new wing blade and larger endplates, which together increase the downforce on the rear axle. It has four-stage adjustability. To be able to withstand the higher aerodynamic forces, the bodywork of the rear engine cover is reinforced with a carbon-weave finish.

The aerodiscs on the rear wheels are also made of CFRP. These reduce the turbulence around the rear of the car and visually round off the aerodynamic package. They can be customised with an optionally available decorative film. At 200 km/h, when the rear wing is set to Performance for track use, total downforce increases from 89 to 169 kilograms.

Adjustable coilover suspension with modified spring rates

Adjustable coilover suspension with modified spring rates

Together with Manthey, Porsche has developed a special coilover suspension with an inverted set-up for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS that can be adapted for the track. The spring struts can be adjusted to four different positions, and the rebound and compression stages can also be adjusted – without the need for tools. The spring rates on the front suspension have been increased by 20 per cent. The chassis is available in two versions – for cars with and without a lift system on the front axle.

Steel brake lines are also a standard component of the kit. This guarantees an exact pressure point, ensuring optimal braking power delivery. Special racing brake pads with particularly constant friction behaviour over a wide temperature range are optionally available. Illuminated door sill guards with the Manthey logo are available to personalise the car visually. Towing loops are also optionally available, designed especially for the track.

The kit can optionally be extended with a specially designed CFRP rear spoiler attachment. The part, which is finished with carbon weave, is attached to the standard rear spoiler. In combination with the bigger rear wing, this further increases downforce on the rear axle by around four per cent. The car’s performance is visually underlined by the optional louvres (wheel arch vents) with a carbon-weave finish in the front wings. These match the look of the Weissach package.

More than six seconds faster on the Nordschleife

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit is able to demonstrate its full potential on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the traditional benchmark for sports cars at Porsche. With Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister at the wheel, the modified GT sports car completed the 20.8-kilometre course in the Eifel at 18 degrees Celsius under an overcast sky in 7:03.121 minutes – 6.179 seconds faster than the series-production 718 Cayman GT4 RS did the previous year. Both cars were equipped with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres. The lap time was certified by a notary on site.

The Manthey Kit is sold by Porsche Centres worldwide. The country-specific price is listed in the accessory finder (tequipment-finder.porsche.com). In Europe the launch is planned for December 2023. Other markets will follow. The manufacturer’s warranty for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is unaffected.

2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: The Fastest, Most Powerful Corvette Ever

Chevrolet has unleashed the unthinkable in the Corvette ZR1. The King of the Hill returns with the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer, mind-bending specs, and iconic design to challenge the world’s best supercars in both coupe and convertible variants.

• Corvette ZR1 features a 5.5L, twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine dubbed the LT7.

• The LT7 engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft (1123 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer.

• Corvette ZR1 boasts a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 mph (346 Kph) on the racetrack and will dispatch the quarter mile with a GM-estimated sub-10-second time1.

• Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creates over 1,200 pounds (544 Kg) of downforce at top speed.

• ZR1 revives one of the most iconic styles in Corvette history: the split rear window.

“The team that revolutionized Corvette with a mid-engine architecture took on another challenge: take ZR1 to the next level,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “Corvette ZR1 is about pushing the envelope with raw power and cutting-edge innovation. From Stingray, to Z06, E-Ray, and now ZR1, the Corvette family continues to elevate with each new iteration — and challenge the best in the world.”

The Street-Legal Red Bull RB17 Hypercar

The automotive world is abuzz with the announcement that Lanzante, the renowned vehicle specialist known for transforming track-focused machines into road-going marvels, is set to convert the Red Bull RB17 hypercar into a street-legal version. This ambitious project aims to bring Adrian Newey’s V-10 beast from the racetrack to the public roads, and while the challenge is daunting, Lanzante's track record suggests they are up for it. The Red Bull RB17, designed by the legendary Adrian Newey, is a testament to cutting-edge engineering and performance. The track-only version of the hypercar weighs a mere 1,984 pounds, making it lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata ND. Yet, despite its featherweight design, it boasts a staggering 1,200 horsepower. This immense power allows it to lap Silverstone a second quicker than a Formula 1 car, according to recent simulations.
