Red Bull Hypercar RB17: Unleashing a 1000-HP V10 Revving to 15,000 RPM

  • What are the specifications and powertrain of the RB17?

In the world of hypercars, Red Bull has always been synonymous with speed, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible on four wheels. The latest addition to their lineup, the RB17, is set to redefine the hypercar landscape with its jaw-dropping specifications and cutting-edge technology. The RB17, despite the name, marks a departure from Red Bull's Formula 1 endeavors. Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the engineering arm of the Red Bull Racing Group, has been hard at work crafting a hypercar that promises to deliver an unparalleled driving experience. Spearheaded by the renowned Formula 1 engineer and designer Adrian Newey, the RB17 is set to be a game-changer in the hypercar realm.

Initially teased with a twin-turbo V8 engine, the RB17 has undergone a powertrain transformation that has enthusiasts buzzing with excitement. The hypercar will now boast a naturally aspirated V10 engine that screams to an astounding 15,000 rpm. This combustion powerhouse alone generates a mind-boggling 1,000 horsepower, and the performance is further enhanced by an electric motor, contributing an additional 200 hp to the mix. One of the most remarkable features of the RB17 is its featherweight design. Weighing in at less than 2,000 pounds, or approximately 900 kilograms, it puts the hypercar in a league of its own. To put this in perspective, it's lighter than some of the most nimble sports cars, promising a power-to-weight ratio that is simply exhilarating.

Adrian Newey, known for his aerodynamic brilliance in Formula 1, has translated his expertise into the RB17. Touted as one of the most aerodynamic cars ever made, the hypercar aims to achieve lap times comparable to Formula 1 cars. At 150 mph, it generates a peak downforce of 1,700 kilograms, and even at 120 mph, the downforce matches the weight of the car itself. This translates to exceptional stability and grip, ensuring an unmatched driving experience.

The RB17 is not just about raw power and speed; it also prioritizes driver comfort and experience. The two-seater hypercar boasts a more spacious cabin than its predecessor, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, with a particular focus on legroom for taller individuals. Active suspension and bespoke Michelin tires further enhance the driving dynamics, promising a ride that is both thrilling and comfortable.

With Red Bull's commitment to exclusivity, the RB17 will see a production cap of 50 units. However, effectively only 49 units will be available, as Adrian Newey has reserved one for himself. The fortunate 49 buyers will not only be acquiring a hypercar but will also receive training, including sessions on Red Bull's Formula 1 simulator.

The RB17 is slated to hit the tracks for testing in 2025 after showcasing a full-size scale model in the summer of 2024. Production for customer cars is scheduled to commence in 2026. As for the price, the RB17 comes with a hefty £5 million price tag, approximately $6.3 million at current exchange rates, plus taxes. While it is touted as a "track car," there is anticipation about its street legality, prompting inquiries to Red Bull for clarification.

2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: The Fastest, Most Powerful Corvette Ever

Chevrolet has unleashed the unthinkable in the Corvette ZR1. The King of the Hill returns with the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer, mind-bending specs, and iconic design to challenge the world’s best supercars in both coupe and convertible variants.

• Corvette ZR1 features a 5.5L, twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine dubbed the LT7.

• The LT7 engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft (1123 Nm) of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer.

• Corvette ZR1 boasts a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 mph (346 Kph) on the racetrack and will dispatch the quarter mile with a GM-estimated sub-10-second time1.

• Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creates over 1,200 pounds (544 Kg) of downforce at top speed.

• ZR1 revives one of the most iconic styles in Corvette history: the split rear window.

“The team that revolutionized Corvette with a mid-engine architecture took on another challenge: take ZR1 to the next level,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “Corvette ZR1 is about pushing the envelope with raw power and cutting-edge innovation. The Street-Legal Red Bull RB17 Hypercar

The automotive world is abuzz with the announcement that Lanzante, the renowned vehicle specialist known for transforming track-focused machines into road-going marvels, is set to convert the Red Bull RB17 hypercar into a street-legal version. This ambitious project aims to bring Adrian Newey’s V-10 beast from the racetrack to the public roads, and while the challenge is daunting, Lanzante's track record suggests they are up for it. The Red Bull RB17, designed by the legendary Adrian Newey, is a testament to cutting-edge engineering and performance. The track-only version of the hypercar weighs a mere 1,984 pounds, making it lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata ND. Yet, despite its featherweight design, it boasts a staggering 1,200 horsepower. This immense power allows it to lap Silverstone a second quicker than a Formula 1 car, according to recent simulations.
