As Formula 1 heads to Baku for the 2025 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the spotlight is firmly on McLaren. With a dominant 337 point lead, the team could secure the Constructors’ Championship earlier than any team in history. But it is not just about the racing. From a possible top speed record to new tire strategies and off-track concert headlines in Abu Dhabi, the F1 world is buzzing.
Baku’s street circuit may become the place where McLaren writes a new chapter in F1 history. With Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris sitting first and second in the drivers’ standings, all eyes are on the team’s performance this weekend. A one-two finish would lock in the Constructors’ title, even with seven races left in the season.
That would break Red Bull’s 2023 record for the earliest title clinch. McLaren currently holds 617 points, comfortably ahead of Ferrari’s 280. And with the Baku track known for high-speed slipstreaming, the odds are in McLaren’s favor to seal the deal.
Baku is known for its long straights, and this year, the stakes are even higher. The 378 km/h record, set by Valtteri Bottas in 2016, is now under threat. Low-downforce setups, DRS, and perfectly timed slipstreams could help Piastri, Norris, or Verstappen beat that number.
On top of that, Pirelli is shaking things up with its softest tire compounds (C6, C5, and C4). These are designed to create more variation in race strategy after last year’s one-stop dominance. Add a 57 percent chance of a Safety Car and you’ve got the recipe for a dramatic weekend.
While Baku grabs headlines, Abu Dhabi is quietly setting up for the most exciting season finale yet. The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will run from December 4 to 7, with a massive entertainment lineup. Katy Perry, Metallica, Post Malone, and Calvin Harris are set to perform, alongside Berlin’s Keinemusik collective.
The Yas Marina Circuit is also offering free access to major attractions with every race ticket, including Ferrari World and Louvre Abu Dhabi. For the last time before the 2026 regulation changes, fans will witness the current era of F1 cars under the lights. With sustainable upgrades already in place, Yas Marina is not just a race track — it’s a futuristic festival of speed.
