Ford Performance has long been a haven for enthusiasts craving raw power, and its latest offering is bound to make waves in the high-performance community. The Megazilla 2.0 crate engine is a heavily modified 7.3-liter V-8 engineered to deliver over 1000 horsepower. This beast of an engine is Ford’s answer to those who demand more than just brute strength, a statement of engineering prowess and relentless performance. Paired with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, it takes what was already a formidable powertrain and transforms it into an off-road-only titan.
The key to the Megazilla’s newfound power lies in forced induction. While the naturally aspirated version already packs a punch with 612 horsepower, the addition of a Whipple supercharger elevates its performance into the four-digit territory. This same supercharger is used on the Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 crate engine, where it helps generate 810 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. But the Megazilla isn’t built for street use; this engine is strictly for those who dare to push their machines to the extreme.
Underneath the Megazilla’s massive displacement lies an arsenal of high-strength components, including forged Callies H-beam connecting rods and Mahle pistons. The hot cam setup further enhances its aggressive nature, ensuring that this engine is tuned for maximum power output under extreme conditions. With all that added boost, the Megazilla demands a reinforced structure, making its already hefty 673-pound weight a necessary tradeoff for durability and strength.
Ford has yet to reveal the final performance numbers, but given the naturally aspirated version’s already impressive credentials, expectations are sky-high. Pricing details remain unclear, but with the naturally aspirated Megazilla starting at $22,995, the supercharged version will likely push well past $30,000. For those who already own a 2024 Mustang or newer, the Whipple supercharger kit is available now, offering a taste of this high-horsepower madness for street-legal applications.
The Megazilla 2.0 isn’t just another high-output crate engine; it’s a testament to Ford’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of V-8 performance. Whether it finds a home in a custom off-road build or a high-horsepower drag monster, one thing is certain: the Megazilla 2.0 is built to dominate.
