Genesis Teases the Dream with Sleek X Gran Coupe and X Convertible

  • Are the new Genesis concepts still just fantasies?
  • How do the interiors elevate the Genesis concept experience?

In a move that stirred excitement at the Seoul Mobility Show, Genesis showcased two stunning vehicles that blur the line between concept and production: the X Gran Coupe and X Convertible. Derived from the elegant X Concept (2021) and the captivating X Convertible (2022), these two-door visions now appear closer than ever to becoming street-legal realities. Unlike traditional concept cars, both models look like they’ve rolled straight off the assembly line, built on the platform of the luxurious G90 sedan, yet infused with fresh flair and head-turning charisma.

The transformation of Genesis’ concept language into these near-production coupes is remarkable. The sculpted hood, reimagined grille, and powerful rear haunches signal a bold shift from the stately G90 sedan to something far sportier. These two-door designs share more than just proportions with the G90, they carry its soul, refined into silhouettes that wouldn’t look out of place next to Bentley or even Aston Martin models. If anything, the X Gran Coupe and X Convertible hint at a new design chapter for Genesis, possibly foreshadowing a facelift of the current G90.

In a segment where brands like Mercedes have stepped away from S-Class coupes, Genesis seems ready to seize the moment. Every detail, from the refined grille to the elegant rear fascia, speaks of intent, a desire to compete with the best, not just conceptually, but commercially.

Step inside either model, and it’s clear Genesis is targeting connoisseurs of luxury. Drawing inspiration from nature and fine living, the cabins are crafted with distinctive themes. The X Coupe’s olive green exterior pairs with an interior dressed in deep green leather and olive wood, inspired by Mediterranean olive trees. In contrast, the X Convertible channels the sophistication of fine wine, featuring Cabernet-toned paint and a blue interior that echoes Italian vineyards.

These interiors don’t just look beautiful, they feel bespoke. With diamond-stitched leather, polished wood veneers, and crystal-like controls, Genesis delivers craftsmanship on par with ultra-luxury marques. Even without announcing performance specs, the emotional impact of these interiors hints at an experience that blends serene power with aesthetic richness.
