05 Aug 2024

INEOS Automotive has made a splash at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing a range of exciting prototypes that hint at the future of the company's rugged 4x4 lineup. The brand, known for its tough and capable Grenadier, presented five unique prototypes that could potentially shape the next generation of off-road vehicles. These prototypes include a V8-powered Station Wagon, a FIA-approved rally car, a safari-ready eight-seater, and two specialized variants of the Grenadier Quartermaster.

One of the standout showcases at Goodwood was the portal-axled Grenadier Quartermaster and Station Wagon. In collaboration with German vehicle modification specialist LeTech, INEOS has equipped these vehicles with portal axles and offset wheel hubs, paired with larger off-road tires. These modifications elevate the chassis, providing an impressive 514mm ground clearance and a remarkable 1050mm wading depth. This setup enhances the vehicles' off-road capabilities, allowing them to tackle challenging terrains with ease. The portal-axled variants reflect INEOS's commitment to pushing the limits of 4x4 performance and versatility.

Short-Bed Grenadier Quartermaster

Dubbed the "Shortermaster," this prototype is a more compact version of the Grenadier Quartermaster. With a significantly reduced wheelbase of 2922mm—305mm shorter than the standard model—the Shortermaster optimizes tray space by shifting the rear seats forward. This configuration offers a practical and versatile option for off-road enthusiasts and tradespeople alike. Scheduled for an Australian release in late 2024 or early 2025, the Shortermaster is designed to provide a balance of utility and ruggedness.

V8-Powered Grenadier Station Wagon

INEOS also unveiled a V8-powered variant of the Grenadier Station Wagon. This prototype features a powerful GM 6.2-litre V8 engine, replacing the standard BMW 3.0-litre straight-six. Producing 317kW and 625Nm of torque, this V8 prototype showcases a significant boost in power and performance. The build required extensive modifications, including new engine mounts, electrics, cooling systems, and a revised center console. While currently a one-off project designed to provide hands-on experience for apprentices at Magna, an INEOS partner, this prototype has sparked excitement among enthusiasts for the possibility of more powerful production models.

For those who dream of adventure, the Grenadier Safari prototype offers a tailored experience for safari expeditions. Developed by INEOS Kavango, this eight-seater vehicle is designed to traverse long distances on rugged terrain. It features tiered rows of seats for optimal visibility, bespoke protection bars, and off-road tires on alloy wheels. The Grenadier Safari is not just a vehicle; it's a versatile platform designed for various sectors, including conservation, anti-poaching, veterinary, healthcare, and film production.

Buzz Grenadier Rally Car

The Buzz Grenadier rally car is another exciting addition to the lineup. This FIA-compliant rally car features an enhanced version of BMW's 3.0-litre straight-six engine, delivering 260kW and 550Nm. The rally car includes a sports exhaust system, R53 race suspension, upgraded brakes, and bespoke alloy wheels. The interior is stripped down and fitted with a full roll cage, racing bucket seats, and carbon door panels. Set to compete in the 2025 World Rally-Raid Championship, the Buzz Grenadier showcases INEOS's ambition to make a mark in the world of motorsport.

INEOS's debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed has undoubtedly generated excitement and intrigue. With prototypes ranging from powerful V8s to specialized safari vehicles and rally-ready models, the company has demonstrated the versatility and potential of the Grenadier platform. As Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, aptly put it, "The Grenadier is Built For More," and these prototypes exemplify that vision. Whether for off-road adventures or specialized missions, the future of the Grenadier lineup promises to be as diverse as it is capable.

Infiniti’s latest offering, the QX55, represents a bold step forward in the world of luxury crossover SUVs. Designed to capture the attention of youthful drivers with refined tastes, this vehicle bridges the gap between sportiness and practicality, elegance and utility. The story of the QX55 is one of inspiration, innovation, and the push to create something truly unique, combining artistic expression with functional design. The Infiniti QX55 is a modern reinterpretation of the coupe-like crossover concept that Infiniti pioneered with its FX series years ago. However, the QX55 adds a fresh layer of sophistication and youthfulness that caters to the desires of a new generation of drivers. The inspiration for the QX55’s design stemmed from a bold challenge between Infiniti’s design team and the company’s visionaries. The goal? To create a practical crossover that retains the luxurious appeal Infiniti is known for while appealing to younger drivers seeking an expressive yet functional vehicle.

The journey to craft the QX55 was not without its challenges. Designers had to strike a balance between dynamic aesthetics and daily usability. Infiniti sought to avoid the common pitfalls of overly aggressive styling that often sacrifices comfort or practicality. Instead, they focused on creating a streamlined, coupé-like silhouette that hints at performance, without compromising on the essential interior space expected of an SUV.
