This December is turning into a true supercar celebration. Toyota is not just unveiling its highly anticipated GR GT supercar in Japan, but it will be joined by a sleek Lexus version and a pure race machine designed for the track. These new models promise to kick off a fresh era for Japanese performance cars, with wild new designs and big power under the hood.
Toyota is about to introduce the GR GT, which may not even carry a Toyota badge as the brand shifts Gazoo Racing into its own nameplate. The teaser image that dropped this week shows a dramatic coupe sharing the stage with what is clearly a Lexus, based on the distinct taillight design and bold roofline. Look closer and you spot design cues from the Lexus Sport Concept, including a textured glass panel and a striking vertical brake light.
Both the GR and Lexus versions will share a brand new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8, and some form of electrification is expected. The Lexus will likely be the pricier option, but both will land well below the legendary LFA’s price point. These cars are being described as “all new sports models” with hints that they will offer real exclusivity and cutting edge technology.
On the far side of the teaser sits a true racing machine with a full roll cage, track tires, louvers in the front fenders, and serious aerodynamic tweaks. The car’s first public appearance was as the GR GT3 concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon back in 2022. Since then, rumors have swirled about a possible production run, and now a Lexus model with a license plate is nearly a sure thing.
These new performance models all share dramatic vertical air intakes, clever flush door handles, and bold shapes that mark a new era for Toyota and Lexus. With the global premiere happening December 5 in Japan, the world will finally get a full look at these V8 powered icons that are set to shake up the supercar scene.
