Despite the financial turbulence swirling around the brand, Maserati is making it clear that its passion for performance is still alive. At the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the legendary Italian carmaker is set to introduce a completely new mystery model that looks like an evolution of the mid-engine MC20.
The official teaser image keeps most details hidden but highlights the pillar and side air vents that strongly resemble those found on the current MC20. Carbon fiber panels and a familiar hexagonal grille suggest a strong visual link to the existing model. Maserati is calling the reveal an authentic new expression of power in true Maserati fashion.
A cryptic message on Instagram further adds to the suspense: a sharper form, the same pure soul, and a nod to Einstein’s famous equation E=mc2. This could signal anything from better weight-to-power ratios to a fresh performance direction.
Maserati is bringing its most hardcore MC20 yet to the hill climb challenge at Goodwood. The MC20 GT2 Stradale turns up the aggression with a 632 horsepower version of the twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine. It’s a machine built for the track but adapted for show, designed to dominate sharp corners and high-speed straights alike.
The GT2 Stradale is part of a legacy that began in 2020 with the original MC20 coupe. Since then, Maserati has expanded the lineup with the roofless Cielo in 2022, the extreme MCXtrema in 2023, and this very Stradale in 2024. Whether the upcoming mystery car will be a limited edition, a facelift, or a complete reimagination is still unclear, but the GT2’s presence guarantees plenty of tire smoke and excitement.
Alongside the teaser model and GT2, Maserati will also showcase the wild MCXtrema and the refined GranCabrio V6 at Goodwood. The MCXtrema is an all out track car that breaks free from road car limitations, emphasizing extreme aerodynamics and raw speed. It’s a tribute to Maserati’s most daring engineering ambitions.
On the other hand, the GranCabrio offers a more relaxed but no less powerful experience. Powered by the same Nettuno V6, it delivers open top elegance for drivers who want speed without sacrificing comfort.
Together, these models show Maserati’s wide range of performance and design, from brutal race machines to luxurious touring cars, as the brand celebrates 100 years of its iconic trident badge and prepares for its 2026 motorsport centennial.
