Omoda 7 Turns Heads With The Strangest Sound Test In The Auto Industry

  • How did Omoda connect the launch of the Omoda 7 with the world of fashion in London?
  • Can cats really prove the sound insulation quality of a luxury SUV like the Omoda 7?

As competition intensifies across the global car market in 2026, automakers are searching for new ways to stand out beyond horsepower figures and battery capacity. Omoda, the brand backed by Chinese giant Chery, recently launched its new Omoda 7 SUV in the United Kingdom with a marketing campaign that immediately grabbed attention online. Instead of traditional advertising, the company created an unusual demonstration that involved dozens of cats to highlight the car’s sound insulation. The idea quickly spread across automotive and lifestyle media, presenting the new SUV as both innovative and playful while reinforcing its focus on comfort, design, and hybrid performance.

Choosing London as the stage for the debut allowed Omoda to position the Omoda 7 as more than just a compact SUV. The brand introduced the model during London Fashion Week under a campaign slogan that translates to I am not a fashion model but this car certainly is. To reinforce the idea, the company collaborated with Denise Ohnona, a well known Kate Moss look alike, bringing a recognizable fashion influence to the event.

Using London Fashion Week as the backdrop helped the brand link the vehicle to a modern lifestyle that blends design, creativity, and luxury experiences. Omoda also deployed a fleet of Omoda vehicles to transport designers and models during the event, creating continuous visibility for the SUV among fashion professionals and media audiences.

Positioning the Omoda 7 between the Omoda 5 and Omoda 9 models also plays a strategic role in the lineup. The SUV targets younger buyers looking for a futuristic design and a strong visual identity in the competitive compact SUV segment. By combining automotive engineering with fashion culture, Omoda aimed to create a product that feels connected to urban style rather than simply another vehicle release.

Creating one of the most unusual demonstrations in recent automotive marketing, Omoda invited dozens of cats to climb onto the vehicle and meow loudly around it while passengers remained inside the cabin. The experiment aimed to showcase the effectiveness of the SUV’s acoustic glass and sound insulation. Even though standard glass could already reduce some outside noise, the visual concept delivered a memorable digital moment that spread quickly online.

Expanding the sensory theme further, the company also filled the vehicle with thousands of colorful flowers to highlight the interior fragrance options integrated into the cabin. These scents are designed to create a relaxing atmosphere that complements the premium feel of the interior space.

Beyond the playful marketing, the Omoda 7 offers serious hybrid capability. The plug in hybrid system pairs a 1.5 liter engine with an 18.3 kWh battery to deliver a combined output of 201 horsepower and 365 Nm of torque. Thanks to efficient energy management, the SUV can travel more than 1126 km between refueling and charging stops, making it a strong competitor in the growing hybrid SUV category.

For drivers who prefer traditional powertrains, Omoda also offers a gasoline version equipped with a 1.6 liter engine producing 145 horsepower. Inside the cabin, a large 15.6 inch infotainment display dominates the dashboard, adding a strong technological presence. Pricing in the United Kingdom starts at about 29915 British pounds for the gasoline model and around 32000 British pounds for the hybrid version, positioning the Omoda 7 as an accessible yet modern SUV for lifestyle focused buyers.
