  • What was the timing of the Rimac Nivara?
  • What are the specifications of the Rimac Nevara?

In a thrilling spectacle of speed and innovation, the Rimac Nevera, a groundbreaking all-electric hypercar, has left an indelible mark on the racing world by obliterating Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) lap record at the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife track. Piloted by the Croatian racing sensation Martin Kodrić, the Nevera achieved a jaw-dropping feat by completing the circuit a stunning 20 seconds faster than its closest competition. This remarkable achievement not only showcases Rimac's engineering prowess but also underscores the rapid evolution of electric vehicle technology on the racing scene.

A Historic Lap

A Historic Lap

Nürburgring Nordschleife, often referred to as the "Green Hell," is one of the most grueling and revered tracks in the world of motorsport. Its treacherous twists, turns, and elevation changes have made it a crucible for testing the limits of automotive performance. In the world of electric vehicles, Tesla's Model S Plaid had held the EV lap record of 7:25.231, a testament to the company's innovation and daring. However, the Rimac Nevera has emerged as the new torchbearer, setting a record-breaking lap of 7:05:298 that has electrified racing enthusiasts worldwide.

Rimac Nevera: A Technological Marvel

Rimac Nevera: A Technological Marvel

At the heart of this achievement lies the Rimac Nevera, a masterpiece of engineering and design that has pushed the boundaries of electric vehicle performance. Developed by the Croatian automaker Rimac Automobili, the Nevera derives its name from a Mediterranean storm known for its power – an apt moniker for a car that packs an astonishing 1,914 horsepower and 1,741 lb-ft of torque. This power is harnessed by four electric motors, one at each wheel, ensuring unparalleled traction and dynamic control.

What truly sets the Nevera apart is its innovative battery technology. With a 120 kWh battery pack that utilizes cutting-edge cooling and energy management systems, the Nevera can deliver sustained high-performance driving without significant loss of power due to heat buildup. This technological marvel translates into lightning-fast acceleration, allowing the Nevera to go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 1.85 seconds.

The Rimac Nevera's record-breaking lap at Nürburgring Nordschleife stands as a testament to human ingenuity, technological advancement, and the unrelenting pursuit of excellence. Through the convergence of electric powertrains, cutting-edge battery technology, and the skill of a remarkable driver, the Nevera has not only shattered records but also shattered preconceptions about the potential of electric vehicles in the world of motorsport. As the electric vehicle revolution accelerates, one thing is clear: the racing landscape will never be the same again.

New Aston Martin Vantage GT3 targets victory in WEC and IMSA

Aston Martin’s new Vantage GT3 continues its hunt for glory in the world’s two most prestigious endurance racing series, as the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship [IMSA] resume this weekend.

The WEC begins its European leg on Sunday with the 6 Hours of Imola (ITA), and an inaugural visit to one of the continent’s best-known circuits, before heading to Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) on 11 May, and then the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June. Meanwhile IMSA heads to the world famous Long Beach street track for its first sprint race (100 minutes) of the season. A second-place finish in the brand-new LMGT3 class for the Heart of Racing (HoR), and third for D’station Racing, made Aston Martin the only one of the nine GT manufacturers present to score a WEC double podium finish at the season-opening 1812km of Qatar in March. It means both teams arrive in Italy in strong form.
