The Black Badge Ghost II Series features a bold exterior design that is reflected in subtle yet impactful details. The lower grille is the most prominent element of this design, introducing a unique design feature to Black Badge Ghost for the first time. The lower air intake reveals a new architecture, with two dark chrome strips running lengthwise into the air ducts, framed by black chrome surrounds. These details highlight the strong vertical Pantheon grille, which conceals the most important element of the car: the powerful and efficient V12 engine.

The Black Badge Ghost II Series retains the signature black chrome of Black Badge, which is worn throughout Rolls-Royce symbols, from the Spirit of Ecstasy and Pantheon grille to the exquisite RR badge. To achieve this effect, a special chromium electrolyte is used in the traditional chrome plating process, applied to the stainless steel substrate to enhance the darkness of the colour. Each element is then meticulously polished to a black, reflective finish. For the first time ever, Black Badge Ghost features black door handles, adding to its visual appeal.

The most striking exterior design feature of the Black Badge Ghost II is the 22-inch, seven-spoke, part-polished wheels. The low, visible wheel mass and slender spoke geometry clearly reveal the powerful brake discs, a nod to the mechanical precision of its legendary high-performance V12 engine and the technology employed in its chassis. This design reflects the power and dynamic capabilities of the luxury motor car, a distinctive aspect of the Black Badge Ghost character that attracts an increasing number of clients to the Rolls-Royce brand and inspires the bold Bespoke commissions of the team.

The dark, technical surfaces that characterize Black Badge are subtly but extensively emphasized in the interior of the Black Badge Ghost II. Perhaps the most subtle expression of this is the new clock face, which features an analogue clock and a Spirit of Ecstasy figurine illuminated from below with a black chrome finish rather than a polished, reflective effect. This elegant, artisanal cabin sits alongside the enhanced central information display, which now features the brand’s advanced Spirit operating system. Technical Carbon finishes are featured beneath the glass fascia and throughout the interior of the Black Badge Ghost II. The Maison’s artisans have developed an intricate, diamond-shaped weave using carbon fiber and metallic fibers over a black boulevard wood base. The resin-coated carbon woven leaves and contrasting metallic threads are applied to the components by hand in a diamond-patterned, three-dimensional effect. Each component is pressurized for one hour at 100°C. It is then sandblasted to create a surface hardened by six layers of lacquer, which is then hand-sanded and polished to give it a captivating finish. This results in a soft and delicate finish that reveals its dimensions and purity on closer inspection.

If a customer requests immersive seats with a central console, the Black Badge Collection infinity symbol can be added to the rear section of the Technical Carbon Fiber Waterfall, which separates the reclining rear seats and covers the radiator. This durable aluminum piece is positioned between the third and fourth of the six colored lacquer layers, giving the illusion that the symbol is floating above the Technical Carbon Fibre.

The design team also employed a physical vapour deposition technique to darken the metals in the Black Badge Ghost II cabin, enhancing the speaker grilles and surround air vents on the instrument panel and in the rear cabin, to ensure that their colors will not fade or deteriorate with time, repeated use or exposure to extreme temperatures.

Rolls-Royce invites its Black Badge customers to explore new materials in the Ghost II Collection, including Duality Twill, an innovative fabric created by the marque from bamboo. The designers drew inspiration from the vast bamboo forest in the Mediterranean garden on the Côte d’Azur, near the Villa Mimosa, Sir Henry Royce’s former winter home. Embroidered into the fabric is a Duality graphic motif, inspired by the interlocking RR monograms of the marque’s emblem. The entire interior can be covered in Duality Twill, which can take up to 20 hours to complete. This luxurious material can be taken to new heights with bold contrasting colours, with 51 different thread colors available for customers to choose from. In addition, customers can choose from a contemporary and innovative ‘spot perforation’ technique, which involves drilling tiny holes into the leather to create unique artistic designs. The perforations vary in size to create a sense of depth and help create detailed, three-dimensional graphics. The team took inspiration from the shapes and shadows of clouds that hover over the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, and included up to 107,000 perforations, each measuring between 0.8 and 1.2 mm in diameter, each individually checked to ensure complete consistency.

The Black Badge Ghost II is powered by a powerful V12 engine with a high-power configuration, producing an additional 29bhp and 50Nm of torque compared to the Ghost II. As with other Black Badge models, further revolutionary Black Badge technologies are revealed when the ‘Low’ button is pressed on the gear lever, including a 50% faster gearshift at 90% throttle and increased exhaust note, all of which add to the already exceptional and comfortable driving experience offered by Rolls-Royce. To make the most of this additional power, the Black Badge Ghost II is equipped with the Black Badge’s remarkable Planar Body suspension. Similar to the Ghost II series, this technology includes an upper wishbone damper unit above the front suspension assembly, along with continuously variable, electronically controlled shock absorbers and self-levelling air struts front and rear, to enhance the marque’s signature magic carpet ride.

Finally, the team has responded to customer demand for a uniquely powerful Rolls-Royce by raising the brake coupling point and reducing pedal travel to enhance driver confidence.
