The Alfa Romeo 4C Revived as the Abarth 1300 OT

15 Apr 2024
  • What unique production process does the Abarth 1300 OT undergo that ensures its authenticity and exclusivity?

In a surprising twist of automotive revival, the Alfa Romeo 4C is making a comeback in 2024, reborn as the Abarth 1300 OT to commemorate 75 years of Abarth excellence. Stellantis Heritage, the custodian of iconic brands under the Stellantis umbrella, is breathing new life into this beloved sports car by transforming it into a retro-flavored masterpiece paying homage to Abarth's racing legacy.

The Abarth 1300 OT draws inspiration from the Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 of the 1960s, utilizing the agile and potent Alfa Romeo 4C as its foundation. This isn't the first time we've seen the 4C undergo a transformation under the Abarth banner. Last year, Abarth introduced the Classiche 1000 SP, a convertible variant based on the 4C, demonstrating the potential for creativity and innovation with this platform.

A Modern Revival of Racing Heritage and Italian Craftsmanship

A Modern Revival of Racing Heritage and Italian Craftsmanship

What distinguishes the Abarth 1300 OT from its predecessor, aside from its striking vintage design cues, is its bespoke features tailored for performance and aesthetics. Constructed with a carbon fiber body, the 1300 OT boasts rear louvers and a periscope roof scoop reminiscent of its '60s racing counterpart. The rear end showcases a wide cooling vent adorned with prominent Abarth branding, signaling its unique heritage. Instead of the typical Alfa Romeo badging, the Scorpion emblem of Abarth takes center stage, affirming its distinct identity.

Underneath the revamped exterior lies the heart of the Alfa Romeo 4C, featuring a potent mid-engine setup. While the bug-eye headlights might raise eyebrows among purists, the overall execution promises a blend of modern performance and nostalgic charm. A centrally mounted trapezoidal exhaust setup replaces the original dual tips, enhancing the car's aggressive stance and aerodynamic efficiency.

One intriguing question surrounding the Abarth 1300 OT is its production process. Stellantis Heritage has confirmed that all units will be assembled using existing and registered Alfa Romeo 4Cs with low mileage, meticulously overhauled to meet the stringent standards of this limited-edition release. This approach ensures authenticity while breathing new life into well-maintained 4Cs that might have otherwise faded into obscurity.

Interestingly, the Alfa Romeo 4C continued to appear in sales charts in the United States last year, despite its phased-out status. This enduring popularity underscores the timeless appeal and enthusiast following of this nimble Italian sports car.

For those captivated by the Abarth 1300 OT's allure, the opportunity to secure one of these limited-edition vehicles is now open. Although pricing details remain undisclosed, prospective buyers can reach out to Stellantis Heritage to secure their spot in automotive history with this distinctive creation.

The revival of the Alfa Romeo 4C as the Abarth 1300 OT exemplifies the enduring legacy of Italian automotive craftsmanship. By melding past inspiration with contemporary engineering, Stellantis Heritage has crafted a remarkable tribute that celebrates Abarth's storied racing heritage while reigniting passion for the iconic Alfa Romeo 4C. As the automotive world embraces electrification and automation, these timeless classics remind us of the joy and exhilaration that driving enthusiasts cherish—a sentiment embodied by the spirited Abarth 1300 OT.

The all-new 2025 Ram 1500 RHO makes its debut today and once again cements Ram Truck as North America’s off-road truck leader. As the segment’s most capable light-duty pick-up truck, the Ram 1500 RHO offers the best value with more horsepower per dollar ($129.60) than any other off-road offering. “The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is the latest result of a relentless pursuit to engineer, design and deliver a truck that charges into the segment head down and horn up,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “All that we’ve learned from developing every truck in Ram’s legendary lineup has led us to the most capable light-duty pick-up truck offering the best value with more horsepower per dollar than any other off-road truck.”

The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is powered by the all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output (H/O) Straight-Six Turbo (SST) engine from the Stellantis Hurricane Twin-turbo family. The 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output engine is rated at 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering enhanced fuel economy and fewer emissions while generating more horsepower and torque than other naturally aspirated V-8 and boosted six-cylinder engines in the light-duty segment. Capability includes a maximum towing capacity of 8,380 pounds, a maximum payload of 1,520 pounds and up to 32 inches of water fording. As part of Ram’s Core/Electric/Sport approach, Ram 1500 RHO expands the “Sport” light-duty lineup that already consists of Warlock and Rebel.

Built in Sterling Heights, Mich., the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the third quarter of 2024 with pricing starting at $69,995, not including $1,995 destination. Orders for the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO are open now.
