Respondents showed a positive inclination towards EVs for long trips, with 77% of UAE residents stating that they do not mind embarking on extended journeys in electric vehicles. This suggests a growing confidence in the reliability and practicality of EVs for various travel needs.

Despite the general understanding of the UAE's expanding charging network, as acknowledged by 83% of respondents, a cautious 20% would still not be comfortable solely owning an EV. This highlights the importance of continued efforts to build confidence in the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Encouragingly, the survey also indicates a shift towards EVs as the primary and sole mode of transportation for residents. Notably, 40% of respondents expressed comfort with the idea of having an electric vehicle as their only car, highlighting a changing preference towards sustainable mobility solutions. Emiratis and Arab expats are leading the charge towards embracing electric vehicles, with 50% and 60%, respectively, expressing a likelihood to purchase an EV.

In terms of charging infrastructure, 41% of Abu Dhabi residents reported having the option to install a home charging point, contributing to the convenience and accessibility of charging solutions in the region.

Commenting on the survey findings, Scott Shears, General Manager at Audi Abu Dhabi, stated, "As we navigate the evolving landscape of personal mobility, we’re encouraged by the survey results that reflect a growing enthusiasm for electric vehicles among UAE residents. The data not only underscores a shift in preferences towards sustainable transportation but also emphasises the importance of continued collaboration between automotive industry stakeholders, government entities, and the community to foster a seamless transition to an electric future.”

Audi Abu Dhabi remains committed to shaping the future of mobility by providing innovative and sustainable transportation solutions that align with the evolving preferences of UAE residents.

Porsche plans a trio of powertrains for the Cayenne into the next decade

For more than 20 years, the Cayenne has been characterised by its ability to provide the broad range of qualities between characteristic Porsche driving performance, excellent comfort in everyday driving, and great capability when driving off-road. The future models of the SUV will seamlessly continue this success story, retaining all of the car’s familiar features.

“The Cayenne has always defined the sports car in its segment. In the middle of the decade, the fourth generation will set standards in the segment as an electric SUV,” said Blume, CEO of Porsche AG. At the same time, into the next decade our customers will still be able to choose from a wide range of powerful and efficient combustion and hybrid models.

"The third generation of the Cayenne will be further upgraded and will continue to be offered alongside the fourth, all-electric generation".

The current Cayenne generation, which last year was given one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche, will be further developed with major technological investment in the future. Here the developers will be focusing, among other things, on the powertrains, in particular on improving the efficiency of the V8 developed by Porsche and built at the Zuffenhausen engine plant. Extensive technical measures will ensure that the twin-turbo engine is ready to comply with future legislative requirements.
