  • What are the specifications of the Lexus RZ 450e F Sport Performance?

In the ever-evolving landscape of electric vehicles (EVs), automakers are pushing the boundaries not only in terms of performance but also in design aesthetics. Hyundai and Lexus are at the forefront of this movement, unveiling more aggressive versions of their electric SUVs at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon. Hyundai's NPX1 Concept and Lexus's RZ 450e F Sport Performance not only showcase cutting-edge technology but also introduce a new era of customization with performance parts.

Hyundai has shifted its focus from traditional gasoline models to electric vehicles with its N Performance Parts, as evidenced by the NPX1 Concept based on the Ioniq 5 N. This marks a significant step for Hyundai, introducing performance enhancements specifically tailored for an electric N model. While the NPX1 is currently labeled as a concept, Hyundai plans to make the N Performance Parts available for the Ioniq 5 N later this year.

The NPX1 boasts an eye-catching body kit, featuring a carbon front splitter, a substantial rear wing, beefier side skirts, and an enlarged diffuser. The alloy and carbon composite wheels not only add to the aggressive aesthetic but also contribute to weight reduction. Suspension lowering springs and upgraded brake pads enhance the vehicle's performance dynamics.

Although interior images are yet to be revealed, Hyundai promises a sporty and luxurious cabin with bucket seats and the generous use of Alcantara. This move aligns with Hyundai's future plans to develop N Performance Parts for all its N cars, emphasizing the company's commitment to electrification and performance.

Lexus, too, has joined the electric performance bandwagon with its RZ 450e F Sport Performance special edition. Unlike Hyundai's NPX1, the RZ special edition is not just a concept; it will see a limited production of 100 units based on the RZ450e model. To make it even more exclusive, Lexus will employ a lottery system for Japanese customers to have a chance at owning this uniquely designed electric SUV.

The RZ450e F Sport Performance features an aggressive body kit, including not one but two rear wings, totaling 17 aerodynamic body parts. With a sportier suspension kit and 21-inch wheels, this special edition is slightly longer, wider, and taller than the standard RZ450e. The exterior is painted in a striking matte white, complemented by a predominantly black cabin with blue accents and suede upholstery.

Under the hood, the RZ450e F Sport Performance retains its dual-motor setup, producing a combined 201 horsepower from the front motor and 107 horsepower from the rear motor. While the power output remains unchanged, the focus here is on the enhanced aerodynamics, sportier suspension, and distinctive design elements that set this special edition apart.

Porsche plans a trio of powertrains for the Cayenne into the next decade

For more than 20 years, the Cayenne has been characterised by its ability to provide the broad range of qualities between characteristic Porsche driving performance, excellent comfort in everyday driving, and great capability when driving off-road. The future models of the SUV will seamlessly continue this success story, retaining all of the car’s familiar features.

“The Cayenne has always defined the sports car in its segment. In the middle of the decade, the fourth generation will set standards in the segment as an electric SUV,” said Blume, CEO of Porsche AG. At the same time, into the next decade our customers will still be able to choose from a wide range of powerful and efficient combustion and hybrid models.

"The third generation of the Cayenne will be further upgraded and will continue to be offered alongside the fourth, all-electric generation".

The current Cayenne generation, which last year was given one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche, will be further developed with major technological investment in the future. Here the developers will be focusing, among other things, on the powertrains, in particular on improving the efficiency of the V8 developed by Porsche and built at the Zuffenhausen engine plant. Extensive technical measures will ensure that the twin-turbo engine is ready to comply with future legislative requirements.
