Abarth and Stellantis Motorsport join forces, combine racing DNAs, and partner to create the most powerful Abarth ever

  • What are the specifications of the new Abarth?
  • What are the interior design features of the new Abarth?

Abarth and Stellantis Motorsport are proud to announce a new collaboration which aims to set a new standard in the electric automotive world with the birth of the most powerful Abarth ever thanks to its 240hp. The partnership is a tribute to Abarth’s racing history. In fact, competitions have always been part of its DNA. Thanks to the brand’s technological "transfer", the most innovative solutions - tested on the track to increase performance and reliability – have always been adopted on normal production cars to ensure a thrilling driving experience. The same holds true for Motorsport, the vital entity of the Stellantis Group responsible for the racing activities of the corporation's brands, divisions, and subsidiaries.

Furthermore, this partnership enhances Abarth's DNA - turning the ordinary into the extraordinary - and makes use of the brand’s tradition and heritage in the racing field, blending all of those ingredients with Motorsport's expertise. The two entities are bringing their different, yet effectively similar backgrounds and histories to reach a common goal: to make road cars much more performing.

Together Abarth and Motorsport have crafted a platform, one which is composed of a distilled blend of technologies, racing expertise, engineering know-how and thousands of hours of testing to give the birth to this high-performance project: a new platform based on the well-known eCMP, now renamed Perfo-eCMP, which will see many new projects within the Group.

Each single technical element has been analyzed, refined, and tuned by a joint team of engineers, experts, and testers from both Abarth and Motorsport to create the best package. The outcome is a jewel, a new shining star equipped with high performance powertrain and suspensions with a dedicated setup to secure handling, dynamic and stability, as well as to trace the most effective trajectories and guarantee excellent racing dynamics in all kinds of conditions. To further contribute to the excellence in performance, the new Abarth is also equipped with a unique limited slip differential which was developed for the specific needs of a BEV powertrain and accommodated to its dynamic characteristics.

The result is the most powerful Abarth ever, a project marked by innovation and extreme performance—one which is not just the outcome of a simple tuning; a new benchmark in which a majestic piece of architecture works in tandem with an extremely high-performing engine encapsulated in an optimized chassis.

The new Abarth will be equipped with 240 hp and an advanced braking system, which offers more power and stability thanks to bigger brake discs and larger disc surfaces for a better heat dissipation and fading resistance.

Developed from experience in Formula E competitions, the new tires ensure maximum grip without compromising on range and acoustics. Thanks to the softer compound tread on the exterior and center area, they provide extra grip when cornering and improved range, while the polyurethane insert ensures acoustic insulation (-20% perceived noise level).

Inside, the high-comfort seats with racing ergonomics contribute to a comfortable ride even on the “most extreme journeys”. Made up of 4 different foams for optimized support on each area of the body, the high-performance seats feature an enveloping shape to contain on bends and emphasize lateral support. The higher density foam guarantees high durability.

In short, the teams have refined all the details to create the best package which ensures fun, performance and safety dedicated to the Brand’s enthusiasts. Abarth continues its electrification journey while remaining extremely faithful to its roots, with performance being its focus. More details are to follow.

Created at the Group’s founding to enliven the brand’s past and present, Stellantis Motorsport has strong roots in the world of racing and has always designed cars that are able to challenge for wins in their respective categories and provide enjoyment, regardless of the level of the driver behind the wheel. It holds 27 FIA WRC manufacturers' titles, 11 Dakar wins, 7 Le Mans victories, and is best known for its involvement in the E Formula World Championship with DS and Maserati, for the World Endurance Championship with Peugeot, and for the Rally Customer Racing with the Citroën C3 Rally2 and Peugeot 208 Rally4.

Maserati Folgore Day

Maserati Folgore Day

On Monday 15 April in Rimini, in the heart of the Motor Valley, Maserati brings together the press and industry insiders for the long-awaited Folgore Day. The event is taking place on the 110th anniversary of the Modena-based manufacturer: the Trident’s narrative is rich in commercial and racing successes – these have included the creation of some of the most iconic cars in the history of international motoring and many wins in high-level motorsport. Folgore Day officially marks the brand’s entry into the new electric dimension, where the Folgore range is ready to dominate and represent the Brand’s future around the world.

A journey of electrification, innovation, luxury and excellence in the best Italian tradition, on which Maserati has embarked in the last year with the launch of its 100% electric models: GranTurismo Folgore, the Trident’s first all-electric car; Grecale Folgore, the first SUV powered by a full-electric powertrain; and now, GranCabrio Folgore, the elegant and refined open-top version of its award-winning grand tourer sister, to be launched at the event. On top of these, the MC20 Folgore super sports car, set to debut in 2025.

By 2028, the entire Trident range will have been fully electrified, as announced by Maserati in early 2024 when it shared its long-term strategic vision, including a growth plan aimed at sustainable profitability further into the future, with the focus on the constant evolution of the brand and its products. In this scenario, the Trident range continues to be entirely designed, developed, and produced in Italy, with Modena and the historic plant on Viale Ciro Menotti remaining the crux of this challenging new era of mobility.

Folgore Day is the starting point on a new journey for Maserati and for luxury consumers to whom the Trident's electric offer is entirely aimed and dedicated, through products that can guaranteeing the distinctive essence of the brand – made up of cars that have always been synonymous with cutting-edge technology, refined elegance, sophisticated and original craftsmanship, impeccable and distinctive performance – and can become new symbols on the move of the profound transformation underway in the market.

Folgore is the drive, the spark that ignites a modern beginning; with the disruptive force of thunder (“Made in Thunder” is the claim alighted on to express this specific moment), it kicks off a new chapter in the great history of Maserati, the first 100% Italian luxury brand to produce full-electric models in the Motor Valley. Once again, the creative and engineering ingenuity of the Trident's women and men have come together to shape the new Folgore full-electric range, a manifesto of the Brand's future.

Held as a postscript to the Formula E racing weekend at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli – for the first time the venue for the Italian stage of the world championship for 100% electric single-seaters, where the Trident is the only Italian luxury marque on the grid – Folgore Day began with the press conference and welcome from the brand's CEO. Davide Grasso spoke about the significant moment for Maserati, ambassador for Italy to the world of luxury, a testament to innovation and technological acceleration, and its future devoted to electrification, sharing its long-term vision focused on the new Folgore range and the Brand's activities, pending the presentation of the latest full-electric creation, Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, to be unveiled at the evening event centred around the overwhelming power of Folgore. Davide Grasso was joined by: Giovanni Perosino, Maserati Chief Marketing Officer, who shared the brand's values and hallmarks as brought into the new Folgore era, giving the world premiere of the “Life is on” campaign; by Davide Danesin, Head of Maserati Engineering, focusing on engineering and development; and by Maserati Head of Design Klaus Busse, who ended the press conference with his contribution on style, technology and design.

The morning meeting was also an opportunity to introduce the attendees to the three thematic areas that lead the narrative and frame Folgore Day – dedicated to electric mobility, the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme, and to TRIDENTE, an all-electric luxury motorboat – when Maserati experts set out the brand's new face.
