Despite Elon Musk’s declarations, here’s Tesla’s first humanoid robot. What is exactly happening? Has Elon Musk changed his mind?

At the Tesla AI Day 2022, Elon Musk has presented Tesla’s first bipedal human robot, Optimus. Obviously, Optimus was still a work in progress as it only waved in the show and couldn’t walk alone. Elon Musk explained that it actually can do more than waving, but the company was just being careful, as it was still under development. He also announced that in few years, it will be produced and available in the market for consumers. It will cost less than a 20 thousand dollars. Musk indicated that the humanoid robot is designed to help people.

Tesla has been working for years on autonomy in vehicles and robots. Optimus is another example of its achievements. AI is already being used in autonomous driving systems and others, and it will continue to be used and developed in the future. However, is it really dangerous as Elon Musk said? 

Back when he declared about the AI being dangerous, he said that his investments in the AI world is to keep an eye on what’s going on. I think that we shall really know what’s going on. Tesla cars are also famous with their self-driving system, which has also failed many times in actual life with some drivers, even causing deaths. Take the driver who lost control of his Tesla Autopilot as an example; his car ended up killing many people. That’s why AI still cannot replace human beings even though robots are made to replace us “to help us” and make our lives easier.

Well, for sure, Artificial Intelligence cannot replace us, but it can help us. That’s why the autopilot in a Tesla is invented for. It helps you, but it cannot replace you. It’s the reason why a Tesla driver shall always keep an eye on it. Because AI is here to help us. Take the waitress robot, for example, the one that serves in Drink and Spice Magics restaurant in Dubai. This robot is an example of how we can use robots to makes things easier for people, as Elon Musk said Optimus would do when it’s ready. Dog robots as well are used to carry safety patrols. Let’s not forget about agricultural robots and industrial robots, and many more that we will see helping us in the future. I’ve even heard about the famous Robot, Sophia, the type of which will be able to study professions practiced by human beings. In a video, Sophia says she wants to study in a university like a human being. In this case, robots will be a great help for us in the future when they’re under our control. Thus, let’s see what the future with them will hold for us of great help.
