Exciting news for LEGO and car enthusiasts alike has surfaced with the leak of the upcoming LEGO Speed Champions sets, courtesy of German retailer JB Spielwaren. The leaked sets showcase iconic vehicles from renowned manufacturers, including the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, Audi S1 E-Tron, BMW M4 GT3, and M Hybrid V8. In a celebration of BMW's racing prowess, LEGO immortalizes two of the brand's exceptional race cars – the M4 GT3 and the M Hybrid V8. The M4 GT3, unveiled at the beginning of the previous year, is a high-performance racing machine. Meanwhile, the M Hybrid V8, making its real-world debut in June 2022, is poised to compete at the prestigious Le Mans in the upcoming racing season. LEGO enthusiasts can now bring these magnificent machines into their homes in a single kit, paying homage to BMW's engineering excellence.

Adding a touch of German finesse to the LEGO Speed Champions lineup is the Audi S1 E-Tron Quattro, affectionately known as the Hoonitron. This 274-piece kit captures the sleek glory of the S1 E-Tron, a concept car that has garnered attention for its exceptional performance. Notably, the LEGO version omits the iconic livery featuring Ken Block, who sadly passed away at the beginning of 2023. Enthusiasts can look forward to recreating the Hoonitron experience in brick form and reliving the excitement of Audi's groundbreaking electric concept.

For fans of American muscle, LEGO introduces the 2024 Dark Horse edition of the Ford Mustang. This 334-piece set beautifully captures the essence of the range-topping Mustang in the seventh-generation lineup. With its striking blue color and a roaring 5.0-liter V8 engine under the hood, the LEGO Dark Horse promises to be a thrilling build for muscle car enthusiasts. As a nod to the real-world counterpart, packing 500 horsepower, this LEGO rendition allows fans to appreciate the iconic Mustang legacy in brick form.

Release Details

According to JB Spielwaren, eager builders may need to exercise a bit of patience, as the Mustang and Audi sets might not hit the shelves until March. On the other hand, the BMW kit could make its debut in January, offering an early start for fans looking to kick off the year with a LEGO speed adventure. While European pre-order pricing has been disclosed, details for US costs are yet to be revealed. If past LEGO Speed Champions kits are any indication, enthusiasts can expect these sets to be reasonably priced, falling within the $20 to $40 range.

The leaked LEGO Speed Champions sets featuring the Mustang Dark Horse, Audi S1 E-Tron, and BMWs M4 GT3 and M Hybrid V8 promise an exciting year ahead for both LEGO builders and automotive enthusiasts. As the anticipation builds, fans can gear up for an immersive experience, recreating the speed and style of these iconic vehicles in the comfort of their own homes. Whether you're a fan of German engineering or American muscle, these upcoming LEGO sets offer a diverse array of options to satisfy every automotive palate.

AMALGAM COLLECTION REVEAL LIMITED EDITION OF 1:18 SCALE MODELS OF THE $5.1M FERRARI 812 COMPETIZIONE TAILOR MADE

Amalgam Collection has today revealed that they have started development of a Limited Edition of 1:18 scale models perfectly replicating the unique Ferrari 812 Competizione Tailor Made that sold at auction for $5.1m in New York, last October. Limited to 250 pieces, this special Art Car edition is a celebration of the passion and artistry of Ferrari Centro Stile, and will become a much sought-after collectable, especially appealing to Ferrari’s most ardent followers who also appreciate art and design. The creative team at Amalgam anticipate that the edition of models will be completed by their artisans in Autumn 2024. Currently, models in this exceptional edition are only available to pre-order directly from Amalgam Collection.

The new Limited Edition of 250 1:18 scale models follows in the footsteps of the creation by Amalgam of a unique 1:8 scale model last year. The handcrafted 1:8 model was donated by Amalgam Collection and raised significant funding for the Ferrari Foundation, alongside the real car that fetched $5.1 million USD.

Using the original CAD data supplied by Ferrari Centro Stile, Amalgam’s artisans have been able to perfectly recreate the form and every refined detail of the livery of the unique 812 Competizione Tailor Made. The model only received the approval of Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni and his design team once they were fully satisfied with its accuracy of representation.

Sandy Copeman, Founder of Amalgam Collection, commented: “While our models are often described as works of art, and are indeed artistic in their creation, in truth, since they deliver the essence of the cars they represent, ultimately the beauty of our models is dependent on the beauty of the car they capture. In this instance, there is no question that both the car and models are art.”
