They are coated in black using PVD (physical vapor deposition – a vacuum-based form of thin-film technology) and filled with beige luminescent material. The white rings of the sub-dials for the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the power reserve at 3 o’clock mimic the headlights of the G-Class.
