NISSAN COLLABORATE WITH DJ AND PRODUCER EATS EVERYTHING TO CREATE NEW FORMULA E MUSIC TRACK ‘FEEEL’

27 Jul 2023

Nissan along with DJ and Producer ‘Eats Everything’ has brought the noises of the electric motorsport Formula E to life in an all-new music track titled ‘Feeel.’ The name of the track, an acronym for Formula E Eats Everything London, reflects the brand’s “Feel Electric” campaign, linking the electrical impulses in the human body when we feel excitement to the electricity powering cars. The track will be shared ahead of the final race of the season in London (29th – 30th July).

A recent study showed that 76 per cent of Brits claim that the sound of vehicles in motorsport is important to the overall experience of a race or event. Plus, when it comes to the sound of motorsports, 36 per cent of adults say it gives them the feel of the event, and 34 per cent love the sound.

Armed with this information and wanting to raise the excitement level ahead of the final race of Season 9, Nissan partnered with top DJ and producer ‘Eats Everything’ to mix noises from their Formula E race team into an electrifying new breakbeat music track.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team said: “One of the surprising things when people first experience Formula E, is how distinctive but still exciting the sound of the cars is. It may be different from the typical noise that people have come to expect from more traditional motorsport series but, precisely for this reason, this characteristic sound makes it more unique and recognisable.

“Eats Everything was perfect for bringing the sound of Formula E to life, because he is so versatile and isn’t afraid to jump between genres and innovate. We needed someone who could capture the true sound and feeling of the sport, and that’s just what he has delivered.”

The sounds were collected at the Monaco E-Prix in May, which include everything from the Gen3 race car accelerating away to wheel guns, team radio, and even the opening of drink cans. For the full electric experience, the music track also incorporated the sound of Nissan’s electric passenger

cars, called “Canto”.

The Nissan research also showed that one in five adults claim that hearing is the sense that stimulates them the most, while almost half (49 per cent) of motorsports fans believe background music enhances the atmosphere of motorsports.

In a behind-the-scenes video Eats Everything explains how the partnership came about, and the inspiration behind ‘Feeel.’

Eats Everything said: “I believe the sound of Formula E is quite musical.

“It’s a very off-key chord which when played in a melody doesn’t work but as a sound feels like it’s constantly going up like a shepard tone or the doppler effect – it’s an audio illusion basically.

“What’s really interesting for me is that this is a bit different compared to what I normally do.

“I make breakbeat a lot but don’t release much of it. For me it’s a passion project and hopefully it will lead me to put out more of this genre because people will think ‘oh it’s alright you can do this’!”

“Here’s something you might not know: ichi-ni-san, which you can hear when the tune hits its most dramatic moment, is 1-2-3 in Japanese. Nissan always competes with number 23 (ni-san) in motorsports and Ichi is the name of my cat, so it was a match made in heaven.”

“What inspired me for the track was the visuals, seeing the whole Nissan Formula E Team work together in the garage, hearing the communications through the radios and all the other steps in between made me want to create a track which felt like a constant build up.

The great thing about Formula E coming to London is that it’s one of the greatest cities on the planet. It being in such a central place, going in and around London ExCeL makes it more exciting, where anyone can watch it – it’s going to be amazing.”

The most exciting parts of motorsports according to fans:

1. The rivalry between teams and drivers (25 per cent)

2. Watching favourite drivers compete (20 per cent)

3. The sound of the cars/vehicles (19 per cent)

Aston Martin Vantage GT3 chasing glory as FIA World Endurance Championship returns to COTA

Aston Martin makes a racing return to the Circuit of the Americas [COTA] and the Lone Star Le Mans 6 hours race – scene of extraordinary success for Vantage in the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] – as the newest Vantage GT3 prepares to take its Texas bow in the hands of partner teams The Heart of Racing [THoR] and D’station Racing, this weekend.

No other manufacturer boasts such a tremendous victory tally at the Austin venue, which returns to the WEC calendar for the first time since 2020 when Aston Martin also recorded a double-class victory. Indeed, the British ultraluxury sportscar brand has achieved no less than nine GT class wins in the six events COTA has staged since the series was formed in 2012. That’s a 75% win ratio, and four of those triumphs were double-class victories.
