Hyundai is making waves in the world of electric vehicle (EV) motorsport with its latest announcement: a souped-up, high-performance version of the Ioniq 5 N set to compete in the iconic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The South Korean automaker will field four Ioniq 5 Ns at this year's event, two of which will be nearly showroom stock, while the other two will be enhanced Time Attack (TA) Spec versions. These upgrades are aimed at securing the modified electric SUV/Crossover record.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Time Attack Spec stands out with its aggressive aerodynamic modifications. The car features a massive spoiler, side sills, and fender flares, all designed to maximize downforce and stability during the challenging hill climb. Additionally, 18-inch forged wheels wrapped in Yokohama slicks are nestled under the arches, supported by a robust braking system with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.
The suspension system has been significantly upgraded with three-way adjustable dampers, allowing for fine-tuning of ride height and camber. These enhancements ensure that the TA Spec version can handle the demanding Pikes Peak course with precision and agility.
