  • What performance and design details make this Continental stand out?

Automotive design icon Chip Foose unveiled his latest creation today at the 2025 SEMA Show, a custom 1956 Continental built to showcase both timeless elegance and modern engineering. The bespoke build debuted in the BluePrint Engines booth, highlighting the seamless blend of Foose’s artistry and performance from BluePrint’s crate engines.

A Timeless Redesign of American Luxury

A Timeless Redesign of American Luxury

The 1956 Continental is a bold reinterpretation of mid-century American luxury. Foose removed the top and transformed the classic coupe into an open-air masterpiece that emphasizes proportion, flow, and craftsmanship. A rear seat from a 1964 Ford Thunderbird enhances balance and comfort, while reshaped door openings, a refined body line, and subtle fender modifications create a sleek, cohesive silhouette. Up front, the headlights have been pulled back and lowered, the hood smoothed and simplified, and 1956 Ford truck handles added for a cleaner finish. Both bumpers were reshaped to follow the car’s new contours, while the rear deck lid and spare tire hump were redesigned for Foose’s signature low, flowing stance. Power comes from a BluePrint Engines LS-Compatible 376 cubic-inch Pro Series engine producing 530 horsepower, paired with a MagnaFlow stainless-steel exhaust system that delivers a refined tone while preserving the Continental’s vintage soul.

To achieve the ideal ride height, custom spindles lower the front while rear lowering blocks maintain balance, supported by a Master Power Brakes four-wheel disc setup for modern confidence. The car rides on bespoke wheels wrapped in custom white-striped tires by Wheel Pros, completing its performance-ready stance. Its custom BASF paint, mixed by Steve DeMan at Foose Design, adds a deep, lustrous finish that enhances every sculpted line. Inside, Bill Dunn Interiors crafted a bespoke cabin blending 1950s luxury with modern precision, highlighted by handmade moldings and rocker trim. “This Continental represents what I love most about automotive design—respecting heritage while exploring what’s possible,” said Chip Foose. BluePrint Engines founder Norris Marshall added, “Partnering with Chip Foose has been incredible. His creativity pushes every boundary of design.” The 1956 Continental will be displayed at the BluePrint Engines booth (#23443) in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center through November 7, 2025.
