Kimera Automobili has reimagined a rally icon that never made it to production. The Evo38 is built to fulfill the vision of the Lancia 038, a concept designed to succeed the legendary rear wheel drive Lancia 037 that once dominated the rally world. Channeling the raw spirit of Group B competition, the Evo38 blends retro rally DNA with cutting edge materials, advanced performance upgrades, and handcrafted precision to deliver a modern interpretation of what could have been a game changing rally machine.
The Evo38 pushes beyond nostalgia by pairing vintage design with serious modern hardware. It features a larger turbocharger and advanced tuning upgrades that push output to nearly 600 horsepower. Power is delivered through a six speed manual transmission to all four wheels, thanks to the addition of a full time all wheel drive system. This setup makes the Evo38 feel like the rally monster Lancia never got to build.
To maintain agility, Kimera constructed the Evo38 using a mix of carbon fiber and titanium, keeping the weight at just around 1100 kilograms. That’s comparable to lightweights like the Mazda MX-5 RF and Alpine A110S. With this balance of power and lightness, the Evo38 promises razor sharp handling and exhilarating acceleration. The car also features electronically adjustable dampers and a hydraulic front lift system, while the Integrale version adds an electrohydraulic differential that lets the driver fine tune torque distribution from inside the cockpit.
The Kimera Evo38 is a handcrafted tribute to rally legends, limited to just 38 units worldwide. It builds on the foundation of the Evo37 with enhanced engineering, now featuring a twin motor all wheel drive setup that delivers nearly 600 horsepower. Power flows through a six speed manual gearbox with short ratio tuning, giving drivers total control over its high performance character.
Adding to the excitement, Kimera has already teased a third model, the mysterious K-39, set to be revealed 120 days after the Geneva debut. With a countdown timer live on the company’s website, fans of modern classic performance cars have plenty to look forward to. Kimera isn’t just reviving Lancia’s spirit, it’s redefining what a retro inspired supercar can be in today’s performance obsessed world.
