This is precisely the essence of Retromobile, an annual automotive event that brings together collectors, enthusiasts, and curious visitors from around the globe. At Retromobile 2025, visitors explored a mesmerizing blend of ultra-rare classics, innovative concepts, iconic automotive memorabilia, and affordable gems, all under the dazzling lights of Paris.

A Showcase of Extreme Rarities

A Showcase of Extreme Rarities

Retromobile is famous for presenting incredibly rare vehicles, and the 2025 edition did not disappoint. At the high end of exclusivity stood the breathtaking McLaren F1, one of automotive history’s most coveted supercars, priced astonishingly at $23 million. This masterpiece of British engineering, powered by a legendary V12 engine, captured the attention of collectors looking for exclusivity and performance wrapped into one spectacular package.

Yet Retromobile isn't only about supercars. A striking contrast was found in the humble but charming 1988 Citroën AX10. With its modest engine and minimal horsepower, this car represented affordability and nostalgia, offered at a fraction of the McLaren’s price. Such contrasts made Retromobile uniquely intriguing, highlighting the diversity of car culture and appealing to collectors across all budgets.

Iconic Engines and Automotive Artifacts

Retromobile 2025 wasn’t just about cars—it was also an exhibition of automotive treasures. A particularly impressive highlight was the Chrysler-Lamborghini 3.5-liter Formula 1 V12 engine, priced at $100,000. Designed by legendary engineer Mauro Forghieri, the LE3512 engine—never run and complete with brand-new spare components—was one of the most compelling mechanical artifacts available, bridging motorsport heritage and modern engineering.

Beyond engines and parts, Retromobile offered thousands of collectibles, from vintage watches and memorabilia to automotive art and apparel. Enthusiasts found everything from miniature die-cast models of legendary racers to vintage racing jackets and rare watches, turning the event into a marketplace celebrating automotive history and culture.

Affordable Classics for Everyday Collectors

While supercars drew significant attention, Retromobile also offered attainable classics for the everyday enthusiast. Visitors admired vehicles such as a beautifully restored Studebaker Avanti, a stylish Peugeot 504 Cabriolet, and a charming 1960s Austin Mini pickup, vehicles that blended historical significance with attainable ownership.

Also attracting crowds was a nicely preserved Studebaker Avanti, alongside a sleek Peugeot 504 Cabriolet, both of which represented stylish, practical investments into automotive history without breaking the bank. An early Austin Mini pickup, a unique find with limited production numbers, also showcased how Retromobile brings extraordinary automotive heritage within the reach of ordinary collectors.

Celebrating Iconic Heritage

Automotive manufacturers leveraged Retromobile to celebrate significant milestones and bridge their past and future. Mercedes-Benz captivated visitors with rare exhibits, including a meticulously restored Mercedes 300SL Gullwing body shell, currently being revived at the Mercedes-Benz Heritage Classic Center. Alongside this classic stood the futuristic rotary-powered C111-II concept, demonstrating Mercedes-Benz's innovation across generations.

Renault expertly combined history and innovation, showcasing beloved classics like the Renault R4, alongside its modern electric reinterpretations. The standout Filante EV concept reimagined Renault’s historic 1956 speed-record car with a vision of the future: lightweight carbon fiber, steer-by-wire technology, and efficiency-focused Michelin tires. Renault's display perfectly bridged past achievements with its ambitious electric future.

Not just the major brands grabbed attention at Retromobile; boutique manufacturers made a splash as well. Italian specialist, Kimera Automobili, displayed its remarkable restomod, paying tribute to the legendary Lancia 037 rally car. Their modernized version, featuring advanced suspension, reinforced tubular frames, carbon-fiber body panels, and a powerfully re-engineered 2.1-liter supercharged and turbocharged engine, offered a thrilling homage to classic rallying heritage with contemporary performance.

Such cars highlighted Retromobile’s commitment not just to preserving the past, but reimagining it in thrilling, modern forms. For enthusiasts drawn to both heritage and cutting-edge engineering, these high-end reinterpretations provided the ultimate automotive temptation.
