SP40 Restomod: A Jaw Dropping Transformation of the Ford Model 40

  • What engine does the SP40 use and how does it affect the driving experience?
  • How does carbon fiber construction and interior craftsmanship set the SP40 apart?

When you see the SP40, you have to stop and stare. This car is not just a tribute to the classic 1934 Ford Model 40, it is a complete reimagining for the modern era. Crafted by Iconic Auto Sports, the SP40 merges the pure lines of the past with wild new energy, combining hot rod power and advanced materials for a truly unique supercar experience.

Modern Muscle and Impressive Handling

Modern Muscle and Impressive Handling

At the heart of the SP40 beats a third generation Ford Coyote 5.0 liter V8 engine, pumping out more than 460 horsepower and 420 pound feet of torque. This setup is paired with stainless steel headers, a high quality coated exhaust system, and a Tremec TKO five speed manual transmission that gives drivers a true hot rod feeling with modern precision.

Performance is further boosted by a fully independent front and rear suspension, helping the car stay flat and planted whether carving up a racetrack or cruising on open roads. Iconic Auto Sports also equipped the SP40 with a Brembo braking system straight from the Mustang GT350R, six piston calipers up front, four at the rear, and massive drilled discs for instant stopping power. Add in the aggressive 20 inch wheels wrapped in 235 wide tires at the front and 275 at the back, and the car grips the pavement with total confidence even at high speeds.

Lightweight Luxury Meets Bespoke Craft

Weighing just 1189 kilograms, the SP40 owes its lightness to a full carbon fiber body that slashes weight for a real supercar feel. Inside, the cabin strikes a perfect balance between luxury and racing inspiration, blending aluminum, wood, fine leather, Sparco harnesses, and even wireless phone charging. Every detail is crafted to deliver a vintage vibe while hiding smart technology.

Each element of the SP40 is built in house by the Argentinian company, with a focus on precision and artistry. The founder Arturo Arribiaga describes the car as more than a literal remake—it is a dream reborn, where every curve and mechanical detail reveals the team’s obsession with driving pleasure and visual impact. The wide wheels, aggressive stance, and bold lighting all speak to a car that looks straight out of the thirties but drives like nothing else on the road today.

While Iconic Auto Sports is based in Argentina, they have a sales office in the United States and offer the SP40 as a fully bespoke build. Pricing is not public, but with this level of craftsmanship, exclusivity comes standard.
