Lamborghini's First EV: The Most Powerful Lambo Yet

11 Mar 2025
  • How will Lamborghini’s EV stand out in the world of electric supercars?

Lamborghini is preparing to make history with its first fully electric vehicle, set to launch before 2030. Unlike anything the brand has built before, this EV will not only redefine the Lamborghini driving experience but also introduce an entirely new level of power and technology. With an expected output of up to 2,000 horsepower, it will be the most powerful model Lamborghini has ever produced. The EV will share an advanced platform developed by Porsche for Volkswagen Group's high-performance and luxury brands, promising cutting-edge technology, lightning-fast charging, and the unmistakable spirit of Lamborghini.

Lamborghini’s upcoming electric model will push the boundaries of performance with an estimated 2,000 horsepower, a figure that positions it among the most powerful electric vehicles ever conceived. This remarkable power output will be achieved through a dual-motor setup, ensuring all-wheel drive and relentless acceleration. Inspired by the Lanzador concept introduced in 2023, the production version will retain the concept’s aggressive stance, raised suspension, and two-door layout, making it a striking addition to the brand’s lineup.

The EV will be built on a new high-performance platform designed by Porsche, which will also underpin future models from Audi and Bentley. This platform supports up to 980 volts, allowing for ultra-fast charging and efficient power delivery. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has already confirmed that the EV will produce at least 1,341 horsepower, the same as the Lanzador concept, but engineers are aiming for much more.

Production will take place in Sant’Agata, Italy, alongside Lamborghini’s current lineup, ensuring that the EV remains true to the brand’s DNA. Despite initial plans for a 2028 release, the project has been pushed to 2029, giving Lamborghini more time to fine-tune the car’s performance and driving character. Winkelmann is confident that the new model will be a commercial success, expecting it to perform as well as the upcoming Temerario, the brand’s new entry-level supercar.

Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume has reassured enthusiasts that Lamborghini’s EV will deliver the same passion and excitement as the brand’s traditional models. While the shift to electric power presents challenges, Lamborghini is determined to prove that electrification does not mean the end of raw, emotional performance. With cutting-edge technology, jaw-dropping power, and a bold design, this EV could redefine what it means to drive a Lamborghini.
