In a major win for electric mobility, the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has officially entered the Guinness World Records after completing the longest journey ever achieved by an electric SUV on public roads in the United Kingdom. The car managed to travel 935 kilometers on a single charge, a feat that lasted nearly 23 hours and highlighted the growing practicality of long distance travel with electric vehicles.
The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor covered 935 kilometers on a single charge, breaking the world record for the longest trip in an electric SUV. The drive lasted 22 hours and 57 minutes under mixed weather conditions that included rain, making the accomplishment even more impressive. The test was verified by an official Guinness judge who oversaw every detail, including GPS tracking, odometer readings, and battery data.
Polestar 3 impressed with an energy consumption of 12.1 kWh per 100 kilometers. Even after reaching a displayed zero percent battery, the SUV kept rolling for another 12.8 kilometers before requiring a recharge. The vehicle retained 20 percent battery life after surpassing 706 kilometers under WLTP standards, further proving its efficiency. The team of professional eco drivers rotated shifts every three hours to maintain focus and consistency during the record run.
The SUV uses a lithium ion 400 volt battery pack with 111 kWh total capacity (107 kWh usable). Power comes from a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle producing 295 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque. Performance includes a 0 to 100 kmh acceleration time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 kmh. Charging supports AC up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 250 kW, allowing 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
Inside, the SUV comes with six interior options made from sustainable materials, including traceable wool blends and certified leather. A 25 speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos is available, along with panoramic glass roof protection that blocks 99.5 percent of UV rays. Practical design touches include a front trunk with 90 liters of capacity and a rear cargo area offering 484 liters with foldable seats. Built on Volvo’s SPA2 platform, the Polestar 3 also achieves a drag coefficient of 0.29 with aerodynamic details like frameless mirrors and integrated side glass.
