My first test drive for the Audi E-tron GT was with its high performing trim, the Audi E-tron GT RS. The latter has two electric motors that transforms the power through an AWD system, which is the Quattro. The two electric motors delivers up to 646 horsepower and 850 NM of torque. The car has multiple driving modes, which are Comfort, Efficiency, Dynamic, and Individual. The driving modes control the suspension system and the drivetrain’s behavior; thus, each of the modes behave as their names exactly. For example, when you’re on Comfort mode, the car provides you a really comfortable ride, and drivetrain is front-wheel biased. However, when you’re on Dynamic mode, that’s when the action begins. The car transforms the power to the rear wheels and gives an astonishing acceleration that will make your heart skip a beat! That’s what exactly happened to me when I tried accelerating the Audi E-tron GT RS. The company was trying, through the test drive, to prove us that the car makes only 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, and they were right! We tried accelerating the car; my head stuck to the seat and I felt the power of the 850 NM of torque down my spine. The adrenaline rush made me addicted to the performance of the car.

My second test drive was with the Audi E-tron GT Quattro, which is the standard trim. It also has 2 electric motors, and I forgot to mention that both trims have a 2-speed transmission. Yes! 2-speed, and not only a single transmission. The Quattro trim makes up to 530Hp and 630Nm of torque. The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and when we made the test drive, it took about 4.2 seconds. That means that the car’s numbers are accurate. It also has the Audi Drive select, which is also the multiple driving modes selection. Its acceleration wasn’t as exciting as the RS’, but it definitely stuck my head and back to the seat. I drove this car for 4 hours. As a Grand Tourer, it is supposed to be really comfortable for a long ride. To my surprise, it was really comfortable and quiet efficient as well! 

The car is designed from all its aspects to be efficient. It has a dynamic sleek exterior design that Improves stability and efficiency. The front has no grille, as the car tends to maintain its electric identity, but it has real lower and side vents. The air goes through the side vents to the vents that are aside the doors, all the way to the wide track following the sleek side lines of the car. The rear has an adaptive rear wing that improves aerodynamics, with the flat roofline. The car looks amazing when you look at its sides. Add to that, the roof is made of either glass, or carbon fiber, thus more down force. Even the 21-inch wheels design improves efficiency. All these aerodynamic elements reduce the drag for more stability and efficiency. Audi claims that the car has a 488 km of range when fully charged. When I took the car from the dealership, it had a 294 km of range. After I drove it for 4 hours with non-stop, most of the time in Dynamic mode that is the sporty one, I returned the car with 258 km of range! Of course, the regenerating braking system also played a big part in retaining its energy as much as possible. 

When you say an EV, it might sound really odd. Most of electric cars manufacturers tend to make a car with weird looks, huge infotainment screens, and odd feeling. However, the Audi E-tron GT Quattro and the Audi E-tron GT RS don’t make you feel weird about them. It might feel weird when you drive an EV for the first time, but the Audi E-tron GT isn’t really different from the ICE cars, to which we are used. It only differs with its powertrain, but it gives the same feeling of driving joy and the same amount of satisfaction. Thanks to its external and internal sound system, you can hear the car when it accelerates, too! The car also has the traditional Audi cockpit, with a standard 10.1-inch screen, unlike the typical EVs that include huge dumb screens. It also has the famous Matrix LED Lights that we love from Audi. It has sporty seats that are surprisingly comfortable! Ambient lighting, high quality leather and materials, and carbon fiber decorate the beautiful cabin. You can also choose to have a vegan-friendly cabin. To your surprise as well, it has a spacious rear legroom and a spacious trunk that fitted me easily thanks to its long wheelbase. Yes, I measured the trunk by sitting inside of it. Don’t be surprised. Let’s not forget that the front trunk also has a cargo space. 

No Need to worry about your safety and your family’s, as the car is equipped with the necessary safety and driving assistance systems. It has the Audi Pre-sense Safety system, besides the Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Parking Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and others… Rear steering is also available and the car’s stability is perfect. I tested the car’s handling and stability at a high speed, and the car handles perfectly. The safety systems also worked perfectly, as the car sensed danger at my high speed test, so the seatbelts tightened, and the car automatically turned on the flashers.

Thus, to me, the car was really fun to drive, very comfortable, safe, and highly stable. It changed my perspective towards electric vehicles, or probably, it is an exception itself.
