Volvo continues its legacy of blending rugged capability with Scandinavian elegance by introducing the 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country, the first electric model to receive the brand’s signature off-road treatment. Designed for adventure seekers, the EX30 Cross Country enhances its compact electric SUV foundation with increased ride height, all-terrain capabilities, and a unique Nordic-inspired design.
For years, Volvo’s Cross Country models have been synonymous with all-terrain versatility, appearing on station wagons like the V60 Cross Country and V90 Cross Country. Now, Volvo brings the same rugged formula to its smallest EV, the EX30.
The 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country shares its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with the standard EX30 but adds enhanced off-road hardware. It produces 422 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque, drawing energy from a 64.0-kWh battery capable of delivering 425 km of range on a single charge. When plugged into a DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
Beyond its electric powertrain, the EX30 Cross Country gains a raised suspension (by 18 mm) for improved ground clearance, along with skid plates at the front and rear to protect its underbody. Exclusive 18-inch wheels come standard, with optional all-terrain tires for buyers who want extra grip on rough terrain. Its flared wheel arches and bolder exterior styling give it a more commanding presence on and off the road.
Volvo ensures that the EX30 Cross Country is not just about performance—it also embraces Nordic heritage in its design. The front and rear body panels feature a dark grey finish, adding contrast to the SUV’s minimalist Scandinavian styling. The front panel showcases a topographic engraving of Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range, paying homage to its rugged inspiration.
Inside, Volvo continues its sustainability-focused approach with interior materials inspired by natural Swedish elements. The door panels mimic the texture of native Swedish granite, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to eco-conscious design.
Adding to the adventure-driven experience, Volvo will offer an optional Cross Country Experience Package, which includes discounts on outdoor accessories such as roof baskets, mud flaps, and off-road tires. As part of this experience, buyers will also have the chance to rent a fully equipped cabin in Swedish Lapland—one of the harshest winter environments—where they can test the EX30 Cross Country in real-world Nordic conditions.
The 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country is expected to launch in late 2025, with deliveries beginning shortly after. While Volvo has not yet released official pricing, it is expected to cost more than the standard EX30 Twin Motor Performance model, which starts at $46,195 (approximately 173,500 SAR). Estimates suggest the Cross Country variant will be priced close to $50,000 (around 187,800 SAR).
To avoid U.S. import tariffs on Chinese-built EVs, Volvo has shifted production of the EX30 series to its factory in Ghent, Belgium. This move could also benefit GCC markets by reducing shipping costs and improving availability.
With its blend of off-road readiness, electric efficiency, and Scandinavian craftsmanship, the 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country presents a compelling option for drivers who want a sustainable SUV that doesn’t shy away from adventure.
