Lia Block Will Drive 1,400-HP Porsche At Pikes Peak In Tribute To Her Dad

02 May 2023

Lia Block, the 16-year-old daughter of famed rally driver Ken Block, is set to honor her late father by driving a 1,400-horsepower Porsche in the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The event, which takes place in Colorado each year, is known as one of the most grueling motorsports competitions in the world, with drivers competing to see who can make it to the top of the 14,115-foot mountain in the fastest time possible.

A tribute to her father

While Lia's run won't be timed, it will still be a tribute to her father, who was tragically killed in a plane crash last year. Ken Block was a legend in the world of motorsports, known for his incredible skill behind the wheel and his fearless approach to racing. In 2020, he tackled Pikes Peak in a custom-built 911 dubbed the "Hoonipigasus", a car that boasted a mind-boggling 914 horsepower and was capable of hitting 180 miles per hour.

Lia's run up the mountain won't be quite as fast or dramatic as her father's, but it will still be an impressive feat. She'll be driving a 1,400-horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo S, a car that's been modified by the team at Hoonigan to make it even more powerful and capable than the stock model. The car features a host of upgrades, including a custom exhaust system, upgraded suspension, and high-performance brakes.

Despite her youth, Lia is no stranger to the world of motorsports. She's been racing competitively since she was just eight years old, and has already racked up an impressive list of accomplishments. In addition to competing in a variety of racing series, she's also worked as a stunt driver for movies and TV shows, including the Fast and Furious franchise.

For Lia, the upcoming run up Pikes Peak is about more than just racing or setting records. It's a chance to honor her father and his legacy, and to continue the journey that he started last year in the Hoonipigasus. She'll be accompanied on the climb by her mother, Lucy Block, who will be driving a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

However, fueled by her passion for speed and adrenaline, Noor refused to let societal expectations hold her back.

Women in the UAE Trust Their Instincts When Selecting Performance Cars, Defying Stereotypes

A new survey conducted by Audi Abu Dhabi has revealed that seven in ten UAE residents believe that women are independent and confident in making their own decisions when buying and driving a performance car. The research, which explores general perceptions around women and performance cars, comes as Audi Abu Dhabi is geared to launch the new Audi RS3 Sedan and RS3 Sportback models.

While the survey results also showed lingering perceptions that women are less interested in performance cars (38%), have less knowledge of performance cars (39%), and are less skilled when it comes to driving them (37%), the findings interestingly showcased that the influence of external opinions holds little sway.
