In the realm of high-performance automobiles, where cutting-edge technology and uncompromising speed converge, Audi's R8 has long been a revered icon. As the curtains begin to fall on the R8's illustrious journey, Audi bids adieu with a spectacular final act - the R8 GT RWD limited to a mere 333 coupes. However, for those who crave an even more adrenaline-pumping experience, ABT Sportsline has emerged with a creation that transcends the boundaries of sanity and speed - the ABT XGT, a street-legal marvel that embodies the spirit of a race car.

Unleashing the Power

Unleashing the Power

The ABT XGT is not merely a modified supercar; it is, in essence, a race car for the road, drawing inspiration from the fearsome Audi R8 LMS GT2. With a staggering 630 horsepower delivered exclusively to the rear wheels, the XGT outmuscles its R8 GT RWD counterpart, pushing the boundaries of performance.

To achieve its extraordinary power-to-weight ratio, ABT took a radical approach, shedding unnecessary weight through the extensive use of carbon fiber. The result is a remarkably lean machine, tipping the scales at just 1400 KG - a remarkable 170 KG  lighter than the R8 GT RWD.

The journey to create the ABT XGT was no ordinary undertaking. Two years of meticulous development, coupled with the approval of 40 decision-makers, culminated in a vehicle that stands apart as a genuine road-legal race car.

ABT didn't stop at power and weight reduction. The XGT underwent meticulous tweaks to its thermal management, software, braking, and fueling systems, all while staying true to the GT2 machine's essence. The exhaust system is reworked to meet road-worthy emissions regulations, and additional modifications ensure compliance with noise levels.

With a top speed of 310 KM/H, courtesy of the imposing rear wing, the XGT promises an exhilarating on-road experience. ABT offers the XGT in four standard colors, with the option for bespoke hues, and it rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. The 83-liter fuel tank ensures ample range for those who seek the thrill of extended drives.

Race-Inspired Interior and Unique Customization

Step inside the stripped-out cabin, and the race car DNA becomes palpable. A full roll cage and a steering wheel reminiscent of the GT2 race car emphasize the XGT's racing pedigree. ABT ensures that each vehicle is a unique expression of its owner's personality, allowing for extensive customization.

Yet, despite its track-inspired roots, the XGT doesn't compromise on road-going comforts. Central locking, a rearview camera, and a handbrake make their way into the modified control panel, alongside controls for air conditioning, turn signals, and electrically adjustable mirrors.

The privilege of owning this road-legal beast comes at a cost - €598,000, roughly translating to $652,000. For those fortunate enough to secure one of the 99 units produced, the ABT XGT promises not just a car but an unparalleled driving experience that blurs the lines between road and track.

ABT Sportsline is not merely a tuner; it is a force to be reckoned with on the race track. With a rich history of over 300 races in DTM since 2000, ABT boasts numerous victories and more than 250 podium finishes. Looking ahead, the company plans to join forces with Audi and Red Bull in 2024 to field a pair of R8 LMS GT3 evo II race cars in DTM, solidifying its commitment to pushing the limits of performance on and off the track.

As the final chapter of the Audi R8 unfolds, the ABT XGT emerges as a fitting tribute to a legacy of speed, power, and uncompromising performance. For those seeking the pinnacle of automotive exhilaration, the ABT XGT stands as a testament to the relentless pursuit of automotive perfection.

Zagato's AGTZ Twin Tail: A Removable Rear Bumper Takes Alpine A110 to New Heights

Italian coachbuilder Zagato has once again showcased its expertise in blending elegance with innovation with the launch of the AGTZ Twin Tail, a sports car based on the Alpine A110. What sets this new model apart is its unique and versatile feature – a removable long-tail rear bumper. This design pays homage to the iconic Alpine A220 that raced at Le Mans, adding a touch of nostalgia to a contemporary masterpiece. The AGTZ Twin Tail draws inspiration from classic Zagato builds like the Alfa Romeo TZ1 and the Iso Rivolta GTZ, known for their distinctive rear-end designs. However, the Twin Tail takes this tradition a step further by allowing owners to customize their car's aerodynamics with the option of a long tail for enhanced performance or a shorter tail for everyday driving.
