Horsepower wars are far from over, especially when it comes to the world of giant trucks. While some sports car makers are dialing down power in favor of efficiency, Ford just cranked things up with the F150 Raptor R prototype, now boasting more than 900 horsepower. Unveiled at SEMA 2025, this extreme build represents the peak of American off road engineering. But there is a catch. You cannot buy it just yet.
The latest Raptor R prototype is not content with its previous 720 horsepower V8. Ford engineers equipped this beast with a Whipple supercharger sized at 3.0 liters, pushing the output to over 900 horsepower. That is an extra 180 horsepower on top of the last model, putting this truck close to the territory of super muscle cars. The new torque figures are still a secret, but Ford promises a truly noticeable increase. With this upgrade, the Raptor R now sits ahead of rivals and redefines what a performance truck can be.
Ford did not forget about looks. The Raptor R wears a Carbon Fiber Package that brings a shine to its bold body lines. A Borla Cat Back exhaust system with black chrome tips gives the truck a deep, aggressive roar. For lighting, Rigid LED off road lights deliver a perfect view no matter the terrain. Many of these upgrades are already available through Ford Performance Parts, so fans can add some of this wild style to their own trucks even before this prototype hits the market.
Right now, this Raptor R is just a showpiece. Ford confirmed there are no immediate plans for commercial sales. Instead, it is being displayed as a test project for Ford Performance Parts, with the possibility it might become an official upgrade kit in the future. If Ford moves to production, expect a warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, provided upgrades are installed at a Ford dealer or by a certified ASE technician. For now, the truck is more a flex of engineering muscle than a product you can buy. But with rival RAM TRX aiming for even more power, the battle of American trucks is only heating up. 2026 could see a new showdown between these high performance legends, pushing the limits of what a pickup can do.
